Not a problem. Let me see if I can help. I had a really hard time figuring this thing out, too! I assume that you have found out how to get to the actual discussion boards and are just having trouble with posting a comment. What you need to do is figure out where you want to post. In your case, you could post your question on either the "General Great Dane Breed Information & Discussion" area or the "Great Dane Health" area. Both would be just as good. Click on either that you choose to go into the topics for each area. You will notice that there are several gray bars that go all the way across your page to separate sections. On the 3rd gray bar, look to the very right side. There is a button that says "New Topic." this is what you need to click on. then you can just type away! Hope this helps!

Hello! I'm not sure that you posted your comment/question about your baby's ears in the correct place. It has shown up in my inbox and noone else can see it. As per your concern, I can't answer your question because yours brings up several others from my end. When you post on the actual discussion board, include exactly what the ears look like (hard and crusty, soft and oozy...), if the pup's ears have been cropped, the size of the areas of concern. By being more detailed, all the people here on the board can help you out just that much more. I'm a pretty new dane owner myself (my first dane is now 6 months old), and I can tell you that there are some very knowledgable people here on this board. They've helped me out several times! Good luck, and I hope you find answers soon!

I noticed you mentioned a deer antler???? the reason I was so curious is because my husband wants to train or pup to find antler sheds out in the woods. I didn't know if you knew anything about that. From what I read you start off teaching them to play fetch with a deer antler. Or if you just like the durability.

When you are training a drug dog, you teach the dog to fetch first. You then introduce the scent and teach them to find it. Reward when they complete the task. It becomes like second nature to them. I would assume that you would do the same thing with antlers (assuming they have a smell--I can't pick up on anything, but my dog has a better sniffer than I!). Leroy can find his anywhere in the house. The only reason he has an antler is because we forgot to pack toys when we went hunting last time. There was a single shed that had been left in the cabin from two years ago, so we just let him chew on them while he was in his cage when we went hunting. He loved them more than his PB filled knuckle bone! I like them because they are super tough and cost nothing more than time and a bullet! :)

Glad to hear Leroy is fine, they have such delicate digestive systems for such big dogs, I either put a couple of table spoons of yogurt in their food just to help their immune systems and it helps with the gas as well or when they are a little older I will start with the pearls.image

He's perfect now. It's kinda wierd. He was only sick during the night this last time. By the time hubby made it to the vet, Leroy was fine.
